Dr Isaac Nape

Dr Isaac Nape was the first SA QuTI Emerging Leader. Isaac is a full time academic at Wits. At the end of 2023, Dr Isaac Nape was appointed as the inaugural Optica Emerging Leader in Optics Chair

In this role he will lead efforts in quantum information processing, focusing on communication and computation. He is also an advisor for the Wits Optics Student chapter, organised by Optica and SPIE.

His advances include the first fast quantum measurement tool for high-dimensional states and the first multi-dimensional quantum transport down conventional optical fibre.

He plans to blend photonics, quantum, and AI/machine learning to push the frontiers of what is possible with intelligent computing at the speed of light. He is currently working on a project focussing on quantum optical circuits for information processing.
